Company History

Robert Burton and Burton’s Automotive has been serving the citizens of Stafford County for almost four decades. In 1969 Mr. Burton opened a one bay service and gas station with a grocery store on Route 17, four miles west of I-95. Back then, Warrenton Road was a two lane road and when it was widened he was forced to move back and replace the business to where it sits today. Currently, they have 18 work bays, a service wait area and a sales office. They work out of a 13,000 square foot facility that is clean and professional in appearance.

In 1974 Robert got his license to be a car dealer so that he could repair and sell vehicles when he had time. All through the eighties and early nineties Robert spent a lot of time managing his NASCAR race cars and team. It was not until 2000 that he began to focus on retail sales at which time he opened a separate office for the sales department. Robert opened the sales of pre-owned vehicles to enhance his service to the community and his existing customers.

Today, Burton’s Automotive has 3 Service Writers and eight ASE Certified mechanics and can handle all your automotive needs. We do! And we are still providing the same great service. This newspaper advertisement is from 1982 and many of the same certified mechanics are still here to service you. Yes, a lot has changed since 1982. Just take a look at those pictures! We may have gotten older and a lot less hair, but our pride is still at work here at Burtons Automotive!
